The City of Morganton is currently in the process of creating a Unified Development Ordinance, which is a consolidation and update of the Cityโs Zoning, Subdivision, and other development ordinances. As we develop the document over the next 18 months, we will be asking for a range of community input.
Specifically, there are a couple of upcoming opportunities for the community to provide their thoughts on topics such as landscaping, building designs, how much parking is needed and/or what types of housing they would like to see in specific areas.
There will be two different occasions to gather community input in June.
- Option 1 is on Thursday, June 25th from 5-7:30pm at Morganton City Hall in the Council Chambers.
- Option 2 is on Friday, June 26th from 6 - 9pm at the TGIF Concert on the Downtown Morganton Courthouse Square.
At both events, there will be several interactive exhibits that the community can participate in to give their thoughts on types of development they would like to see in Morganton in the future. Consultants and city staff will also be available to speak with community members. This process will be similar to the IMAGINE Morganton 2040 Comprehensive Plan development.
