The Development and Design Services Department manages and encourages growth in the city. All new residential, commercial and industrial development is reviewed by the department to ensure consistency with Morganton's Mission 2030 Plan and to ensure proper infrastructure services are available. The department handles planning, building inspections, zoning enforcement, the federal CDBG program, urban design, infrastructure inspections, and code enforcement.
