Water Resources

The City of Morganton Water Resources Department manages water and wastewater utility services in the City of Morganton. The department consists of the Water Treatment Division, Wastewater Treatment Division, and the Collection and Distribution Division. Water Resources also serves parts of Burke and Caldwell counties.

The city water plant draws water from the Catawba River and produces an average of 8.8 million gallons of potable water per day. The city wastewater plant treats about 5.6 million gallons of sewer a day. Treated sewer is released back into the Catawba River. The Distribution Division maintains more than 320 miles of water lines and more than 200 miles of sewer lines.

Water Resources is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
