Parks

Due to damage from Hurricane Helene the following park facilities are closed until further notice as they undergo repairs:

- Catawba Meadows Baseball and Softball Fields

- Catawba River Soccer Complex, including the fields, bathrooms, and parking lot

- The portions of the Catawba River Greenway that are still currently closed are: 

        #1 -  Boardwalk behind the River Village Shopping Complex. You can walk through the parking lot of River Village to the other side of the greenway. The boardwalk is still currently being renovated. 

        #2 - The Rockyford Access all the way to the wooden overlook near the Joara village.

          The bathrooms and parking lot at Freedom Park are open. The parking lot at the Greenlee Ford Road entrance to the Greenway and the dog park are open.  

 

The following park facilities are open to the public: 

- Bethel Park

- Catawba Meadows Park Beanstalk Playground, beach volleyball court, disc golf course, picnic shelters, and bathrooms

- Freedom Park

- Drexel Heritage Park

- Carbon City Park

- Martin Luther King Jr. Park

- Martha’s Park 

- Morganton Dog Park (accessible only from the Greenway)

The City of Morganton Parks and Recreation Department maintains more than 400 acres of land developed for recreational use, including 11 public parks, the Morganton Greenway System, and several mini-parks such as the Asian Gardens.
