Leaf and Grass Collection

** Special Information for the 2023 Leaf Collection Season**

Due to mechanical issues with our leaf trucks, there will be delays in leaf pickup schedule. We are diligently working to resolve the issues.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to serve our citizens. We will update you as soon as more information becomes available.

• Leaf collection starts in October and continues as needed through January. Public Works collects leaves every two weeks during leaf season at no charge to residents. However, after January residents must pay a $25.00 to have loose leaves collected. Residents should pile leaves as close to the road as possible without blocking the road or sidewalks. If you bag the leaves there is no charge. Call Public Works @ 828-438-5248 and request for the bags to be picked up.  Bags are collected every Friday unless it is a holiday.
• Loose grass and small trimmings will require a $25.00 charge (February through September) for out of vacuum service season. If you bag the grass and small trimmings there is no charge. Just call Public Works @ 828-438-5248 and request for the bags to be picked up.  Bags are collected every Friday unless it is a holiday.
• Grass and small trimmings and leaves should be bagged for collection on Fridays, and bags should not exceed 35 pounds. Excessive weight bags will require a $25.00 charge
