- Public Works collects loose leaves on a continuous route during leaf season from October through January at no charge to residents.
- We ask that residents not place anything other than leaves in leaf piles. If you place sticks, debris, branches, bricks and other miscellaneous items in the pile, your leaves will not be collected, as collecting these items will damage the truck and take it out of service.
- Loose yard debris should be separated into individual piles behind the curb: leaf piles, grass pile, brush pile, rough trash pile, etc.
- Place your leaves behind the curb in front of your residence without spilling over into the curb line, if possible. Residents should pile leaves as close to the road as possible without blocking the street or sidewalks.
-
Do not blow leaves into the street as it causes numerous problems. Leaf piles in the street can be a dangerous public hazard to motorist and cyclist. It can also cause flooding issues if they stop up nearby catch basins in our stormwater system.
- If your vehicle is parked on the street blocking the leaf pile or making it difficult to pick up without damaging your vehicle, your leaves will not be collected.
- Please do not park on or close to leaf piles to prevent fire hazards and prevent getting your vehicle dusty from the collection process.
- Please do not pile leaves on top of utility boxes, around power poles, mailboxes or close to landscaping. Crews will not collect any leaf piles within 4 feet of the obstruction.
- Leaves are considered a solid waste and should be either recycled or disposed of properly to provide safe, clean streets and to prevent issues within the stormwater drainage system. We encourage residents to utilize mulching lawn mowers to mulch leaves back into the lawn, providing nutrients back into the soil.
- Please use extreme caution when operating motor vehicles in the vicinity of leaf collection crews for the safety of everyone.
- This service is dependent upon many factors. We ask that residents please be patient and understand that the route could be delayed due to things like equipment breakdowns or weather.
- For a special loose leaf collection outside of the normal route, residents must pay $75.00 for collection. This service is dependent upon having sufficient staff and resources.
- February through September, residents must pay a fee to have loose leaves collected. If you bag your leaves there will be no charge for collection all year. Bagged leaves are collected at curbside every Friday, unless it is a holiday week. Bags should not exceed 15 bags per week or be over 25 pounds. There will be a charge of $25.00 for bags over 25 pounds. Just call Public Works @ 828-438-5248 and request for the bags to be picked up.
