NCMPA1 Lighting Rebate Program Details

Objective

The purpose of the NCMPA1 Lighting Rebate Program for commercial and industrial customers is to promote energy-efficient lighting technologies through a rebate incentive.

Eligibility

Commercial and industrial customers of NCMPA1 cities and towns are eligible for a rebate upon filing an application that agrees to terms and conditions of the program and a final inspection of the completed job by a NCMPA1 representative.

Amount of Rebate

$.30/watt saved compared to the "before" lighting system with a maximum rebate of $20,000 per customer; rebate may not exceed 50% of the total project cost.

Program Criteria

Program Criteria are specified in the application for rebate under "Terms and Conditions." A partial list of terms and conditions are below:

  • The retrofit must improve the energy efficiency of an existing facility; new construction projects are not eligible.
  • The incentive amount will be based on the difference between the "Before" lighting wattage and the "After" lighting wattage multiplied by $.30/watt saved, unless this calculation exceeds $20,000, in which case the maximum incentive paid will be $20,000; rebate may not exceed 50% of total project cost.
  • It is acceptable to aggregate lighting measures at multiple facilities if they all are customers of a NCMPA1 city and owned by the same parent company.
  • Incentives may be paid to a tenant in a leased building where the tenant is responsible for the utility bill, provided that the tenant has received permission, in writing, from the building owner to make lighting upgrades.
  • Incentives may be paid to a building owner that leases space to a tenant where the tenant is responsible for the utility bill.
  • Minimum operating hours per year of 1,800 are required to be eligible for incentives.
  • All fixtures, lamps and ballasts must be UL certified and meet all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Administration: NCMPA1 cities and towns will provide applications to customers for completion.
  • Applications will be reviewed and must be approved by NCMPA1 staff. Rebates will be paid either as a credit on a customer's electric bill or by check, at the discretion of the NCMPA1 city or town.
