Morganton, NC – On March 22, 2026, at approximately 8:32 p.m., officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to a report of shots fired at the skate park located at 601 N. King Street.
Upon arrival, officers encountered multiple individuals and vehicles leaving the area and quickly secured the scene. Witnesses advised that a vehicle had approached the skate park, and following a brief interaction, several shots were heard along with gel-blaster style projectiles fired, striking one man on the cheek.
No serious injuries were reported.
Officers separated witnesses and collected statements. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded and are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
