This positions primary duty will be to mow and maintain city right of ways and perform basic preventive maintenance on all mowing equipment as required. This position will also serve as backup in other areas in the street division when not in mowing season. Positive characteristics for an ideal candidate, is the ability to work independently, good time management and interact well with the public. 

When not operating mowing equipment this position will be responsible for assisting street crews by performing manual labor in support of construction, maintenance, and repair of our city streets, sidewalks and stormwater system. Position also provides operational support by assisting with storm preparation and clean up. 

Minimum of one year of experience in construction, maintenance, grounds keeping or related field. Minimum of one year of experience operating the types of equipment operated by this classification.

Must have a valid NC driver's license and have experience pulling/backing a trailer. Ability to obtain Flagger & Work Zone Safety certifications. Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions. Emergency work due to storm events is required.

Must be able to lift 75 lbs. safely.
