Annual Leave

Up to 5 years employment - 8 hours per month.

At 5 years employment - 10 hours per month

Health Insurance via the NC State Health Plan,

Three plan choices: Traditional 70/30 PPO Plan, Enhanced 80/20 PPO Plan, Consumer-Directed Health Plan w/HSA

Employee contributions varying depending on the plan, and the City pays the remainder for regular, full-time employee coverage.

11 paid holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.


Life Insurance

Equal to annual salary, provided through MedCost

City pays 100% for regular, full-time employee coverage.



Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System (NC State Treasurer).

Full retirement benefits after 30 years of service, at age 60 with 25 years of service or at 65 with 5 years of service. Reduced retirement benefit at age 50 with at least 20 years of service or at age 60 with at least 5 years of service. Additional benefits for law enforcement officers

Employee contributes 6% of annual salary and the City contributes

401K offered through Prudential.

457 Plan offered through Nationwide Retirement Solutions.

Employees contribute voluntarily. City makes 401K contribution for law enforcement officers.


Sick Leave

8 hours per month for regular, full-time employees. Unlimited accumulation. May be used for employee's illness, medical appointments, or for the illness of a relative as defined in policy.
