Public Safety Officers enforce laws and regulations established to maintain order and harmony, and serve as an available resource for providing law enforcement and fire protection to the citizens of Morganton.
Applicant must be able to exercise independent judgment in a variety of situations. Public Safety Officers must be able to communicate effectively with citizens and co-workers, and be able to accurately prepare legible written reports of actions taken. The Applicant must be able to obtain a class B drivers license, and be able to meet OSHA requirements. Applicant must be able to successfully complete physical fitness/agility assessment and meet the physical demands of the law enforcement and fire fighting aspects of the position.
The applicant must be a high school graduate and must have already successfully completed Basic Law Enforcement Training as mandated by NC Dept. of Justice. Applicant must successfully complete the field-training program for law enforcement duties, and must be or have the ability to become a certified firefighter as required by NC Fire Commission Standards.
Salary range is $36,938 – $ 55,407.
