The City’s Parks and Recreation Department has canceled Spooky Meadows this year due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.
Instead of holding Spooky Meadows, the Parks and Recreation Department will hold a drive-thru trick-or-treat event at the Collett Street Recreation Center from 4-7pm on Friday, October 23.
“Given how many people come to Spooky Meadows each year, and the current limitations placed on gatherings, we would not be able to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone if we held Spooky Meadows this year, even with restrictions in place,” said Parks and Recreation Director Rob Winkler. “We are very happy we have been able to find an alternative way for citizens to enjoy Halloween and participate in a fun and safe trick-or-treat event.”
To participate in the drive-thru trick-or-treat at the Collett Street Recreation Center, citizens will need to simply drive up to the front of the building, receive their pre-packaged bag of candy from a staff member, and drive away. Staff will be wearing costumes in order to keep the Halloween spirit alive, and all children participating in the event are encouraged to wear costumes as well.
