Get excited to shop with local farmers and vendors during the opening day of the Morganton Farmers Market on Saturday, May 2nd.

The Market is an essential business that offers the best locally grown produce in the area, and supports a healthy food system and economy by supporting our local area growers. You can choose from a variety of produce, homemade baked breads, local meats, eggs, flowers, honey, and other farm goodies.

The Saturday Farmers Market is located at 300 Beach Street behind Maria’s Italian Eatery and is open from 8 a.m. to noon. In addition to the Saturday Market, the Morganton Farmers Market offers a Mini-Market every Wednesday beginning May 6th from 12:00-4:00pm. The Mini-Market is located at 111 North Green Street at the corner of Green Street and Avery Avenue. Each market operates weekly through the end of October.

Offerings and vendors at the market change with the season, so be sure to stop by each week to see what’s new and fresh. In addition to produce, the Saturday Morganton Farmers Market will offer live music and cooking demonstrations throughout the year. Follow the Morganton Farmers Market on Facebook for all the latest information on market vendors, what’s in season, and special events.

The Morganton Farmers Market accepts SNAP/EBT Cards and WIC. The market has received a grant that matches SNAP users dollar for dollar up to $20 in Fresh Bucks. This means you can swipe your SNAP/EBT card for $20 and get $20 more to spend at the market. This means that $20 on your SNAP card has the same buying power as $40. For those using SNAP, you can swipe your card at J&J Farm’s booth and receive additional Fresh Bucks tokens to use for purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables.

Of course, while we are excited to be able to open the farmer’s market, we will all need to follow necessary precautions to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.

Customers and vendors alike will have access to handwashing stations at each market location. The following rules will be posted and enforced:

No customers or vendors exhibiting symptoms of illness may enter the market area.

One customer at a time at each vendor table.

Only handle product you are purchasing.

No congregating.

The Morganton Farmers Market will remain open each Saturday and Wednesday through the end of October for local access to fresh produce and baked goods.

The Morganton Farmers Market is sponsored by Self Help Credit Union, Burke County Farm Bureau, and the Morganton Community House.
