City electric crews will be performing maintenance work on South Sterling Street and Avery Avenue overnight. The work is scheduled to begin after midnight and last several hours. No residential customers are expected to lose power as a result of the work.

Traffic signals at the intersection of Avery Avenue and North Green Street at CVS Pharmacy, and Avery Avenue and North Sterling Street at John S. Payne Photography Studio, will be turned off so crews can replace a transformer in the area. If you are driving through this area at this time, treat the intersections like a four-way stop. Come to a complete stop at the intersection, and look both ways to make sure it is safe before proceeding.

Crews will be working to move a transformer and electrical equipment on South Sterling Street near the entrance to Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge after completing the transformer change downtown. During this time, Sonic and Speedway will be without power. Crews have notified the businesses of the scheduled outage. Both businesses will be closed while the work takes place. No traffic signals in this area are expected to be off.

If you experience an outage during this time, call the Electric Services Department at 828-438-5277.
