On February 4th, 2021 around midnight, Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety initiated a traffic stop on a Silver Infinity near Old NC 18 and Enola Road. The vehicle stop was due to several moving violations as well as a registration plate violation. Robert Allen May, 30, was found to be the driver of the vehicle. Officers detected the odor of Marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle and requested May perform Field Sobriety Tests. May was arrested following this investigation for Driving While Impaired. A search of the vehicle resulted in the following items being located and seized:

 

  • 50 grams of Marijuana
  • 34 grams of Marijuana Wax
  • 15 grams of Cocaine (packaged into 18 baggies)
  • One (1) Digital Scale
  • Measuring Units with Drug Residue

 

May was transported to the Burke County Magistrates office where he received the following charges:

 

  • Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana
  • Possession with Intent to Sell/Deliver Cocaine
  • Driving While Impaired
  • Possess Open Container of Alcohol in Passenger Area
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Failure to Maintain Lane Control

 

May received a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance date of February 5, 2021.
