Have you seen the latest custom bike rack in downtown Morganton? Located adjacent to the Burke Arts Council parking lot, this sculptural rack was designed by Michael Berley, fabricated by Oak Hill Iron Works and installed by McNeely Fencing. The rack offers interest from every angle with its seemingly random design and bright secondary color scheme. Upon further exploration you will find that the rack exclaims ART from a particular point of view. Pedestrians and vehicular passengers will have this vantage point as they travel on Green and Meeting Streets. Berley is a Landscape Architect and Designer with the City of Morganton. Oak Hill Iron Works is located on King Street in downtown Morganton.
The bike rack was paid for by fund raising campaigns during the TGIF Summer concert series as well as through direct donations from members of the Morganton Downtown Development Association.
