This year, the City of Morganton Human Relations Commission selected Mrs. Suzanne Belada as Morganton's Citizen of the Year.
Mrs. Belada has taught for 33 years in Burke County Public Schools at North Liberty & Liberty Middle School. She has been a Boy Scout Leader, a Girl Scout leader, served on a committee for Special Olympics, and she volunteers with many agencies including Burke United Christian Ministries, Shepherd’s Kitchen, Open Hearts Bakery, and SCC Women’s Ministry.
The Citizen of the Year award is giving for outstanding volunteer service to the community, school, or neighborhood. City Council recognized Mrs. Belada during the Council meeting.
